Jurbarkas is well-known as a city located on the banks of the Nemunas River and, as such, has a port. Although the port is currently unused, in the interwar period, steamships and rafts carrying timber frequently navigated the Nemunas. Residents of border towns would gather to see off trains, while the people of Jurbarkas would bid farewell to steamships. It is said that before World War I, the Russians referred to Jurbarkas as a top-class port on the Nemunas River. For those who may not know, the Jurbarkas port is located on the right bank of the Nemunas, near the Jurbarkas Bridge.
Jurbarkas can boast not only of its proximity to the Nemunas but also of other rivers. One of these is the Mituva River, which flows through the city and is a popular spot for anglers throughout the year. Additionally, next to the Mituva River, you will find the small boat dock, which has been cleaned and is waiting for the spring when the first boats will once again arrive.
