Šilalė Commemorative Oak for February 16, 1918

Category: Natural Monuments
Šilalės paminklinis ąžuolas 1918 m. vasario 16-ajai

At the intersection of J. Basanavičius and Nepriklausomybės streets stands a commemorative oak. In its shadow, the date "1918-02-16" is carved into stone pillars. These numbers indicate that the oak serves as a living monument to the Declaration of the Republic of Lithuania. The oak was planted to mark the tenth anniversary of the Lithuanian Republic, around 1927 or 1928.
