Category: Natural Monuments

Šereiklaukio II piliakalnis (Milžinkapis)

The second hillfort is located 1.1 km north of the first one, situated on a separate hill. The site is oval, elongated in the north-south direction, measuring 40x34 meters with a central elevation of 1 meter. The slopes are steep, ranging from 2 to 6 meters in height. The site is overgrown with grass, and the edges are planted with maples.

650 meters to the east, within a 10.6-hectare area, is a settlement from the mid-1st millennium to the 13th century (excavated in 2001-2002), where evidence of economic pits, post holes, rough and burnished ceramics (decorated with wavy patterns), and animal bones were found. The hillfort dates from the 1st millennium to the 13th century.

It can be reached via the Vilkyškiai-Šereiklaukis road by turning right (northeast) at the site of the former Šereiklaukis estate and driving 300 meters (the site is 100 meters to the right, northwest).
