The first place of worship for the Sartininkai parish was located in the neighboring Margiškiai village. It is believed that services were held here in the mid or early 19th century. Preachers and pastors would travel from Tauragė, located 23 km away. As Sartininkai became a local center, the Lutherans decided to build their own place of worship there. After acquiring a land plot, the parish built a new church. Local craftsmen from Skiržemiai village, Žemaičių Naumiesčio, were responsible for the construction and interior work. The construction costs (a total of 7,000 litas) were covered by the parishioners, who made generous donations despite not being wealthy. The benches, altar, and other church furnishings were brought from the old place of worship in Margiškiai. The new church was consecrated in 1934.
The church building survived World War II, but during the war, the parish lost its archive and library. In 1944, the Natkiškiai parish joined Sartininkai, and the Natkiškiai church was destroyed by the Germans.
In 1950, the Sartininkai parish had 500 members. Since 1941, the parish was served by Bishop Jonas Kalvanas and Deacon Artūras Timpa. From 1995 to 2000, the parish priest was Bishop Jonas Viktoras Kalvanas. According to 2017 data, the parish was served by Mindaugas Dikšaitis, who also served Tauragė and Šilalė.
