Pilių piliakalnis

Pilių Hillfort (also known as Kepaluškalnis or Raguvijos Hill) is situated on the edge of an elevated area, forming a promontory between two depressions, with slopes rising up to 20 meters high. Artifacts such as spur fittings, stone projectiles, and other finds have been discovered here. Some historians suggest that the famous Pilėnai Castle, which was burned down in 1336, might have been located on this hillfort.

Local legends recount four tales associated with this site: witches gathering, a lord’s lost hat, logs used in the castle’s defense, and a buried iron chest filled with golden coins. The hillfort is likely dated to the early 2nd millennium due to the abundance of fortifications found there.
