Shrouded in legends about the giant founder of Jurbarkas buried on the hill, the Bišpilis hillfort stands on the northern edge of the city, on the left bank of the Imsrė stream. It is believed that a wooden Kolainiai Castle stood on the hillfort, which at the end of the 13th century to the beginning of the 14th century belonged to the Panemuniai (Nemunas) defensive system and was burned down by the Teutonic Knights in 1291.
