Didžioji Akmenos rėva

Great Akmena Riffle is a natural landmark located in the Pagramančio Regional Park, within the Andriejaičių and Kilpinės areas. Formed during the melting of glaciers, this impressive boulder field along the Akmena River is known for its unique and distinctive landscape, which is preserved as a natural heritage site.

The Akmena River here flows through a deep valley with a steep gradient, reaching up to 3 meters per kilometer in some places. The river's powerful flow erodes and transports sand and clay particles downstream, leaving behind various sizes of boulders on the riverbed. The "Didžioji Rėva" (Great Riffle) is a result of these boulders being unable to be washed further downstream due to a narrow section of the river.

The area of the boulder field is approximately one-third of a hectare. Visitors can witness the river's activity, deep canyons, and turbulent riffles, especially in spring or autumn. During summer, the boulders appear in bright colors, and it is possible to cross the river by hopping from stone to stone without getting your feet wet. Nearby, there is a designated rest area where tourists can enjoy the sounds of the flowing water.
