In the heart of Bitėnai village, in the pines along the Nemunas River, white storks build their nests and raise their young each year. Depending on the year, the colony may contain up to 23 nests, with some pines hosting even two nests. Interestingly, while storks typically build their nests in deciduous trees, the Bitėnai storks have chosen to nest in pines. During the tourist season, visitors in Bitėnai can observe the storks' activities, including the young storks' initial attempts to fly and the parents' care for their offspring.
