Rambyno Hill is a renowned ancient sacred site and one of the most revered places in Little Lithuania. For centuries, it served as a spiritual center for the Baltic peoples (the Skalvians). The old sacred site on Rambyno Hill existed until 1811. After the sacred offering stone was destroyed, the area began to suffer calamities, and the hill itself collapsed three times, with the sacred site completely falling in 1835.

Today, Rambyno Hill is not only a sacred site but also the only place in Lithuania that offers such extensive views of Ragainė and Tilžė. It is a place where one can imagine the paths walked by Mažvydas, hear the resonant voices of Vydūnas's choir drifting down the Nemunas River from Tilžė to Rambynas, and gaze upon the captivating view of the Nemunas bend and the confluence of the Merguva and Nemunas rivers. Rambyno Hill serves as a reminder of the vanished Baltic tribes and the struggle for the Lithuanian language and script.

The hill gained particular fame through Martynas Jankus, often called the patriarch of Little Lithuania, Vydūnas, and other cultural figures from the region. During the national revival period, Midsummer celebrations (Joninės) began to be held at Rambyno Hill. To commemorate the 115th anniversary of the Joninės celebrations at Rambyno Hill, a modern altar with deep historical significance was erected. Created by national prize laureate sculptor Regimantas Midvikis, the altar symbolizes the Baltic gods' trinity: Patrimpas, Perkūnas, and Patulas.

The Pagėgiai Municipality Cultural Center organizes the traditional Midsummer celebration "Traditions Weaving According to Vydūnas" on Rambyno Hill annually on June 23rd.
