Tauragė will soon welcome a new four-star hotel, marking a significant development that could make it one of the most hospitable cities not just in Lithuania but across Europe. Local entrepreneurs are currently undertaking an ambitious project to breathe new life into the historic "Tauragė" building. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the renovated and modernized building will soon reopen its doors as a welcoming and comfortable hotel, transforming the tourism and business landscape of Western Lithuania.
"Tauragė is now a city creating a resort-like atmosphere," says Eglė Rukšėnaitė, director of the hotel and SPA development company E77. "Tauragė challenges Lithuanian resorts and aims to become one of the most popular destinations for those seeking pleasant experiences during their travels or comfortable stays in the region. We anticipate a 55% occupancy rate, aligning with the average of successful hotels in Lithuania."
The renovated "Tauragė" hotel will feature a distinctive interior and be located near the city's landmark—its castle, in the main square. It will appeal to weekend vacationers, solo travelers, and local explorers, offering accommodation for both short and extended stays. The four-star hotel expects to host around 28,000 guests annually.
The building has been completely renovated and modernized by a professional team of architects, maintaining the stylish aura of mid-20th century modernism. The new owners, UAB "Agavos prekyba," have revived this New York-style hotel, with the unique concept created by E77.
"We aim to meet all guest expectations," says Tadas Alijošius, the hotel's director. "The 'Tauragė' hotel is the second in the city managed by our team, and it's four times larger than the first. However, our goal is to achieve the highest quality standards and receive top reviews that guests will gladly share after their stay. Our 'Senamiesčio apartamentai' in Tauragė, rated 9.7 by guests, have set a high standard. We aim for a perfect 10 for the renovated 'Tauragė' hotel, thus promoting Tauragė as one of the most hospitable cities in Europe."
Experienced hotel and SPA center development expert Eglė Rukšėnaitė predicts success for the new hotel: "A hotel of this level is new to Tauragė. High-quality, multifunctional hotels have been successfully operating in small European towns for decades, in countries like Germany, Sweden, and Poland. Recently, we have received numerous requests from small Lithuanian town municipalities to help develop hotels of this caliber, but businesses are often hesitant to undertake such projects in small towns."
In central Lithuania, there is no other hotel of this level that can accommodate 140-160 guests and offer both commercial space rentals and event venues. The hotel will feature 70 rooms, including single, double, and luxury suites. Each room will have a bathroom and kitchenette, while luxury suites will also include a living area.
The hotel will also include a conference hall capable of hosting events for up to 100 participants. When combined with the restaurant, the space can comfortably accommodate up to 250 guests. The hotel's flexible and modern solutions will allow for easy conversion of spaces for smaller events, catering to groups of 10 to 50 people.
For those who enjoy staying active, the hotel will offer a well-equipped gym accessible to all guests.
The hotel's restaurant, AIKŠTĖ, with an outdoor terrace, will provide a great space for both work and relaxation. Local residents and visitors are invited to enjoy breakfast, lunch, or dinner in the stylish outdoor terrace, bar, or lounge area with comfortable seating.
Clearly, the hotel will meet the growing demand for accommodation in Tauragė, whether for business or family travel. Remote workers requiring focused environments will find designated quiet spaces.
The owners of the "Tauragė" hotel will create 30 to 50 attractive jobs in the region. Positions such as managers, administrators, housekeepers, waiters, and other staff will be invited to contribute to the hotel's growth, creating a unique environment.
These specialists will have opportunities for professional development, and after mastering hotel service standards and acquiring the necessary skills, they can explore new career fields.
The modern renovation and other innovative solutions for the "Tauragė" hotel were designed by architect Algirdas Stripinis from the company "UP architektai."
The hotel has a long history, and the renovation aimed to respectfully preserve both the original architecture and the interior style. The strict geometric forms combined with elements of plastic lines create modern spaces, while subtle details evoke the modernism of the 1970s-1980s.
The interior, created by the E77 team and interior architect Jurgita Masiukaitė, revives the traditions of mid-20th century style, complemented by the latest European-level technologies, ensuring unparalleled comfort during guests' stays.
